Here’s some information to help you plan what you’re packing for you trip to Morocco so you’re well-prepared for your journey.
What to wear:
Depending on the season you’re travelling in, you’ll need slightly different things – Morocco can get very cold throughout the Atlas Mountains, especially in winter, and can be extraodinarily hot in the summer months in places like the Sahara Desert.
Typically we dress more conservatively in Morocco and it is a sign of respect to the culture to cover your legs and shoulders in cities such as Marrakech and Casablanca as well as anywhere inland. This is more relaxed when travelling to beach cities like Tangier, Taghazout, or Essaouira.

Cash or card?
Morocco is a predominantely cash-based economy so it’s important to get cash out when you arrive. Many supermarkets and restaurants will have the option for you to pay by card but it is always good to have cash on you just in case. You will need cash for buying things from the markets and for small purchases such as for water. You will also need cash for any activities that are not included in your tour price.
How much cash should I carry?
A typical Moroccan dinner can cost between 100-250 DH. To have cash that will last a few days, you could take out at least 1000 DH (equivalent to approximately $100 USD or £80).
